Steven Meisel Is a contemporary Photographer working for Vogue and other advertisements , he is able to create a fashion image with edge . Meisel has stated that fashion images were much more experimental in the 70's and 80's than they are today.

The make up in this image creates deep hollow eyes even the eyes them selfs are dark which is unusual in a beauty image. However , i believe this is the most fascinating part of the image , the dark deep eyes against the pale flawless skin . The image has been lit from above which causes a shadow down one side of the face and the chest . The simplicity with in this image allows the viewer to see the model at a vulnerable point however she looks in charge she has a bound with the camera which is capture through the eye.

The basic backgrounds of the images that Miesel captures allows the model to burst into the image . In this image a light has been cast on the models face from the side which add a shadow down the left hand side of the face as though the side of the model face is going up in smoke . I also like how highlighter has been used on the cheeks and this has been caught by the lighting .

As this has been placed against a black backdrop the lighting has been cast down upon the model this highlights her cheekbones and fingers . The stare of this image captures the audience, she has seduction in her eyes and the cigarette adds an illusion of Hollywood Glamour . I like how this image sets the scene for a story, this women could be sat in a bar, hotel or murder scene and she still looks glamourous.

An androgynous hairstyle with a feminine emotion and facial expression . The natural lighting used on this image soften the harsh angles in the face. The facial could be perceived as sexual, as this relates to the character of Julia I am investigating ways of showing promiscuity within the image .

This image has been lit from behind which show the whiteness of the hair and the styling in the hair . I would like my lighting to compliment the details with the hair and the make up. Although this has a location setting it is not clear where the model is , it look industrial which adds the the grey tones in the image .

The lighting glimpsing through the neck draws the eyes directly into the image . Again this image hights the hair , I like the movement caused by the hair.
